In the principle of Numerical Representation, media theorist Manovich asserts that new media objects consist of digital code and can be mathematically defined. Their numerical nature allows for algorithmic manipulation. Numerical Representation uses images and the wall label information containing the inventory number, location, name, date, material, narrative, and the donor's names from the Lowe Art Museum's ritual artifacts on display. This information is translated into binary codes to suggest the abstract nature of these relics when entering an artistic context. The generative new media video reflects on the dematerialization of naturalistic representation and redefines the relationship between objects, context, and exhibition value.
