Photo © Alian Rives' StudioPulsation is a procedural data sculpture of 1000 archival images and sounds from Miami Bay used to make a data dramatization animation using generative machine processes to analyze the hue colors of coral reefs. The color is analyzed by computing calculations indicating the predominant hue result of coral bleaching. The Data Manipulation series addresses the challenges and possibilities that ubiquitous computing has imposed on us. It reflects on the dematerialization of the naturalistic aspects of representation, the redefinition of the relationship between the viewer, nature, and its rendition that transcend naturalism.
